Often we get asked to supply good quality pro audio systems in many markets. On the weekend I had the chance to take home the new Active K Series range from QSC. 1000watt, Class D Amplifiers, with fans ensure these speakers can deliver.

I took home the 8”s for evaluation. They also come in 10”s and 12” , also as offering a dual 12” sub. If you’ve been around my place for a beer, I run 15”’s at home, so I was keen to get these little buggers out of the box and plugged in. These little performers are a delight. Small in size, you can easily lift them with one hand. Speakon connectors on the rear, a bass treble switch which can almost entirely cut out all bass or even extend the bass. RCA connectors for line level also additional mic/line input’s make these a versatile speaker. Remember these are live music speakers, not to be confused with home theatre. However, I’d be happy to listen to some home theatre through these as the clarity was there. My tests included my trusty old ipod, straight out of a DI box into the speakers. No absurd ground hum, no background hiss at high levels. Plug in a mic and we then have Karaoke, the dual gain adjustments allow for greater flexibility. I ran some 2 channel radio and cd, and they enjoyed both doof doof music and rock guitar. With an RRP of $1299 each these are a great performer for that DJ, Band, or even serious PC Gamer looking to rock the world.
